A good partner should start by asking whether you need an app at all. Mobile development is a serious investment, and a fast, well-built mobile website is often the smarter answer. Work through these questions before commissioning anything:
- Will people use it repeatedly? Apps earn their place through frequency — reordering, bookings, loyalty, account management, daily tools. For a once-a-year purchase, a mobile-friendly website wins.
- Does it need the device? Camera, precise location, Bluetooth, offline storage, push notifications and mobile wallets are the honest reasons to build an app.
- Can you fund the second year? Budget for updates, support, store fees and marketing, not just the build.
- How will anyone find it? Nobody browses the stores hoping to discover your brand. Plan store optimisation, website promotion and a launch campaign before development starts.
- What does success look like? Pick measurable goals — bookings per month, or the share of users still active thirty days after install.

iOS app development
Native iOS apps are written in Swift, increasingly with SwiftUI, and built in Xcode. They give the smoothest experience on iPhone and iPad and immediate access to new platform capabilities, which matters for apps built around the camera, health data, wallet passes or home-screen widgets.
Android app development
Native Android apps are written in Kotlin, commonly with Jetpack Compose, and built in Android Studio. The hard part is not the language but the range: screen sizes, manufacturer skins and hardware from flagship to budget. We test on genuinely mid-range devices, because that is what most of your users are holding.
Cross-platform app development
React Native and Flutter let one team write the bulk of an app once and ship it to both stores. For the majority of business apps this is the most economical route, and platform-specific native code can still be dropped in for the handful of screens that need it. The trade-off is a dependency on the framework’s own release cycle, which is a maintenance cost worth naming upfront.
Web apps and PWAs
A progressive web app runs in the browser, can be added to the home screen, works with a poor connection and supports push notifications on current mobile browsers. It is the right answer when store distribution is not essential and you want to ship changes the moment they are ready. Our app development process, step by step
1. Discovery
We work out who the users are, what problem the app removes and how it makes or saves money. Together we rank features, choose platforms and agree the metrics that will judge the release.
2. UX and UI design
Designers map the journeys, produce wireframes and build a clickable prototype you can run on your own phone — the cheapest moment to discover a flow is confusing. Visual design follows your brand, with our graphic design team producing icons, illustrations and store artwork, aligned with your website design so the two feel like one company.
3. MVP scoping
Almost every successful app launches smaller than it was first imagined. We separate must-haves from nice-to-haves so you launch sooner, learn from actual usage and spend the rest of the budget on features the data supports.
4. Development
We build in two-week sprints, each ending with a build you can install and try. Code is version-controlled, peer-reviewed and documented, and priorities can change between sprints without renegotiating the whole project.
5. Quality assurance
Every release is tested on real iOS and Android hardware across screen sizes and OS versions: functionality, performance, accessibility, offline behaviour, permission prompts, and the awkward cases — a declined payment, a dropped connection mid-upload, a notification tapped while the app is closed.
6. Launch and store submission
We prepare listings and submit for review. Both stores publish detailed rules, and we design against the App Store Review Guidelines and the Google Play Console policies from the start. Two rules catch first-time publishers most often: digital goods and subscriptions consumed inside an app generally have to use the platform’s own in-app purchase system, on which each store takes a commission, while physical goods and real-world services do not. And every app must declare what data it collects through Apple’s privacy questions and Google Play’s data safety form, accurately enough to match what the code actually does.
Backends, APIs and integrations
Most apps depend on a backend: the servers, databases and APIs holding user data, processing payments and sending notifications. We design and build that layer, or connect to systems you already run.
Typical work includes accounts and secure authentication, payment processing, push notifications, content management, an admin dashboard for your team, and integrations with CRMs, booking platforms, e-commerce systems and analytics. We design the API so a future website, partner or second app can reuse it, and we plan for versioning from the first release, because an app on someone’s phone is not updated the moment you deploy — older versions keep calling your API for months.
App security and privacy
Apps routinely handle personal information, so security and privacy are designed in rather than bolted on:
- Encrypted data in transit and, where appropriate, at rest on the device
- Secure authentication, including biometric unlock and two-factor options
- Least-privilege access to device permissions and backend data, requested in context so users understand why
- Accurate privacy disclosures in both store listings, kept in step with what the app actually collects

- No secrets in the app binary — keys and credentials belong on the server, because a shipped app can be decompiled

Launching is the start. Maintenance is also a condition of staying published. Both platforms expect apps to be built against reasonably current tooling and API levels, so an app nobody touches will eventually be unable to ship an update at all.
App store optimisation (ASO) decides how much of the store’s own traffic you capture. The levers differ by platform: Apple indexes your app name, subtitle and a keyword field, while Google Play draws terms from your title, short description and full description.
